My CV I started out nearly twenty years ago now, writing for animal magazines including Your Dog, Dogs Today, Your Cat, Everything About Dogs, Everything About Cats, Everything About Dogs, Cat magazine - lobbying against pet quarantine, contributing fact-based articles, personal experience pieces, humour and columns to all sorts of publications. (You can read some of these articles in the archive section of this site.) Later, I moved on to writing about parenting and family issues, contributing to the FT and the Sunday Times, as well as to Parent magazine, Mother and Child, etc. I also continued writing a column about my dog Dolly. I then did a three year stint in Brussels staffing for a press agency. I reported on general and social legislation within the EU. I edited the daily website update in both French and English, I wrote editorials and analysis as well as hard news. I also continued writing freelance pieces for newsweekly magazines and newspapers on various subjects: Belgian police dogs, bar reviews, horses in the army, films, books... At the end of that contract, I went back to freelancing full time, and contributed news and features to websites including BBC Online News, GuardianAbroad and Channel 4 as well as writing columns and articles for print titles like The Herald, A Place in the Sun's "everything France", France Magazine and Destination France. I wrote Living France's backpage “Dernier Mot” column for five years, a monthly column for The Languedoc Page website for four years, and reviewed films for Spinning Image. I also wrote a novel "I Married a Pirate" which was published by Myrmidon Books and which has now been translated into Italian and most recently into Spanish. I am currently writing features and news for Euronews TV in Lyon and contributing travel guides to Easyjet. I'm also still writing features and news for a variety of print titles and websites on subjects ranging through Swiss dentists, dinner parties, dog shows, taming teens and the structure of the French healthcare system. I am also of course still writing fiction and have high hopes of soon being able to announce another publication! I live with my family and a menagerie of animals in France. |
